Friday is my rest day. It is my day to refocus on my goals and prepare myself for another week of running. It is a day to let my muscles recoup. It is a day I welcome with open arms. People often ask me, what do you do on your rest days? The simple answer: Nothing. I mean, other than day to day living, such as eating, walking the dog, cleaning, and working, I do no "exercising". The biggest change on rest days for me is sleeping as long as my body wants. I don't force myself out of bed. I get up when I am ready, which is usually around 7 AM. That is a lot of time for me, considering I am usually up at 5 AM. It's so important to give the body a complete break. There's only so much the body can tolerate. In the last 3 days, I have ran 27.5 miles with 24 more miles this weekend. Rest is crucial!!
Yesterday, I got some trail mix from Target. They have the greatest selection. This one included banana chips, dried mango and pineapple, raisins, chocolate chips, and yogurt covered raisins. I take a handful here and there if I am hungry but don't want to eat something too heavy because I am eating a meal soon.
Kodiak Cake Review: These things are great!! I am so happy I got them to try, because I will continue buying these babies! I had the protein pancakes last night and put a thin spread of peanut butter on top of each pancake. The pancake had a great texture and consistency, and they tasted like your average pancake, which is a good thing! A lot of times when you get these healthier food items, they just don't compare, but these pancakes are amazing! I would highly recommend them to any pancake lover looking for something a bit healthier!
Overall: A+!
Tomorrow's plans are a 16 mile long run, helping my sisters move out of their apartment in Boston, and the AC/DC concert at Gillette Stadium!! It's going to be a long and tiring day, but I look forward to it!
Questions to ponder:
What do you do on your rest days? What is your favorite breakfast to cook? Have you ever tried Kodiak Cakes? Do you have a long run this weekend? How long?
Have a GREAT Friday!
