After the miserable winter full of nonstop snow, you'd think us New Englanders would be happy with the hot summer days, but for a runner, it's no bueno! Running in the heat just feels soooo much harder. I am so excited for fall and winter running at this point! Today was a track workout that went as follows:
1 mile warmup- 8:38
1 mile repeat- 7:49
400 recovery- 8:49
1 mile repeat- 7:54
400 recovery- 8:58
1 mile repeat- 7:46
400 recovery- 8:52
1 mile repeat- 7:51
400 recovery- 9:20
1 mile repeat- 7:54
400 recovery- 9:20
1 mile repeat- 8:05
400 recovery- 9:41
1 mile cool down- 8:48
= 9.5 miles total

This workout was TOUGH! It was more of a mental game than anything, and the heat and humidity did not help at all. This was probably the toughest track workout I have done thus far in my training schedule, but I pushed through and loved every second of it. The mileage is really starting to rack up now and I'm going to be hitting peak week soon. I am nervous but really excited! I never thought in a million years I would be doing 9.5 miles worth of speed work, what!?
Following the workout, I got my coffee and mixed up some Nuun Kona Cola to rehydrate because I sweated out at least 4 pounds of sweat, ughck!

A common lunch for me: Turkey wrap on low carb tomato basil wrap, grapes, broccoli, and pretzels with a little bit of hummus for dipping.
Dinner: Vegetable soup, fresh garden tomato, and a whole wheat roll!
My mom picked some of these sparkling waters up from the store, so I tried the mixed berry and grapefruit. They are so good, and I like how they have a lot of different flavors.
I ordered my pictures from the Falmouth Road Race, so now I have to wait for them to come in the mail, but here is a PROOF picture. I looked pretty miserable in all of my pictures, but everyone else around me does too! It was so darn hot and everyone was so so excited to be so close to the finish. After talking to a bunch of people about the race, I realized I wasn't the only one disappointed with my time. Most people actually ran their race at least 10 minutes slower than last year, so I guess I wasn't the only one! Whew
Questions to ponder:
How do you get through a tough track workout? How do you hydrate/rehydrate yourself after a workout? Do you ever like any of your race photos? What is a common lunch for you?

Have a great Tuesday, whether you're working, on vacation, enjoying the beach, completing a tough workout, or just relaxing!
