Hi everyone, guess what!? I ran my farthest distance ever this morning! 16 miles. 16 freakin' miles! That leaves only 10 more miles in a full marathon....I can do it! I felt fantastic throughout the run, minus a couple of mental walls, but I didn't stop. I pushed myself to the end. I practiced my fueling, wore an outfit that I think may be a winner, and stayed hydrated throughout the whole run, which is hard for me to do! I recovered correctly (I think) and have a severe runner's high right now!
Pre-run fuel: 1 small whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and 2 Movit Energy Gummies that I received in my Bulu Box from Fit Approach. Also a few sips of water.
After 30 minutes of running: 2-3 large sips of water
After 50 minutes of running (around mile 5.5): 1 salted caramel GU energy gel with a couple sips of water.
At 1:05 (about mile 7): 2-3 large sips of water
At 1:40: 1 chocolate outrage GU energy gel with a couple sips of water.
After my second gel, I drank water much more often because I was very thirsty, but I kept up with hydration.
Between 2:10 and 2:15: Took about 4 more Movit Energy Gummies with 2-3 large sips of water.

Post run recovery: Half of a fruit punch Gatorade, water, and then a cup of chocolate milk.
Post run breakfast: A Kodiak Cake protein flapjack on the go with peanut butter, sliced banana, and some maple syrup and an iced coffee!

I have found the shorts that I will be running in for my marathon (almost 100% positive). They are Core Power spandex shorts from Target. They do not ride up at all, and they are a great length. The thing I like is that they don't get soaked and heavy with sweat, and they also don't cause any chafing. Score! I still don't know about a top, but I'm not TOO picky about tops.
Now that the long run is done, today is all about eating and relaxing until the AC/DC concert tonight! WOO!
Questions to ponder:
What is the longest distance you have ever run? What do you use for energy on long runs? How do you recover from long runs? What are your plans for this weekend?
