Good morning and happy Saturday friends! It's another beautiful day here in Boston. On the training plan was an easy 8 miles before a long 15 miles tomorrow...EEK! The run went well, I maintained an 8:54 average pace, which is in the perfect range. As I have said before, I always feel a bit sluggish the day after a rest day, so I'm hoping I got that crummy feeling out of me before tomorrows run. My calf was a bit sore on my run as well, so I plan to stretching it well and foam roll it today so it's feeling good for tomorrow!
What I Ate Yesterday:
Tupperware life at work- Salmon, asparagus, and couscous. Leftovers make the best work dinners!!
Yesterday my mom and I made a trip to Marshall's/HomeGoods so I could do a little shopping for my sitting room, and also just to poke around. We found lots of goodies and could of spent so much more but we refrained!! I found a couple of goodies:
1. Sugar free/calorie free coffee flavoring!! It is so good, and a little goes a long way!
2. Matcha latte- I recently read an article about how good matcha is for running recovery. It is a green tea extra that you can use for a lot of things. You can just add some to water, or you can add it to milk to make it more of a creamier latte. You can also add it to smoothies. You usually add 2 tablespoons to 8 oz of any base.

So, I am not a huge energy/protein bar fan because of sugar and artificial ingredients, but sometimes if you are in a pinch, an energy bar is the only option. I decided I am going to start reviewing different bars that I try to see what is the healthiest, most filling, and best tasting. I am going to start with the Chocolate Cupcake Luna Bar.
Review: Chocolate Cupcake Luna Bar
Taste- this bar actually tastes like a chocolate cupcake! I would give the taste an A.
Filling- this bar was not very filling. It was satisfying, but I was still very hungry after eating it. I would give it a C+.
Sugar- the worst thing about Luna Bars is the amount of sugar in them. These carry about 12-15 grams of sugar in one bar. That is not so bad because I normally don't eat a lot of sugar, and when I do, it's from fruit or 100% fruit juice.
Overall- I really enjoyed this energy bar. Though it may not be the healthiest option, it is good enough to eat occasionally in a pinch! Overall I would give it a B.

Questions to Ponder:
What is the longest run you've ever done? What to do you bring to work to eat during breaks? What's the best thing you've scored at Marshalls/HomeGoods/Tj Maxx? What is your favorite energy bar/protein bar?
Have a wonderful Saturday and enjoy the great weather!
