Another track workout is in the books. Boy, that was a tough one. I'm now in the "strength track workouts," whereas before I was in the "speed track workouts." These are much more in depth and longer. They are not as fast, but you really have to work on keeping your pace for longer distances, which is harder for me than going fast for a shorter distance. The workout was 4 X 1.5 mile repeats.
Here's the workout and splits:
1 mile warmup- 8:51
1.5 mile repeat- 11:41
800 recovery- 8:43
1.5 mile repeat- 11:34
800 recovery- 8:52
1.5 mile repeat- 11:42
800 recovery- 9:07
1.5 mile repeat- 12:04
800 recovery- 9:05
1 mile cool down- 9:09
= 10 miles total at an 8:18 average pace
There is no better feeling than finishing a tough workout and hitting all of your paces. It really gives you a boost of confidence!

My mom, sister, and I got lunch from a place called Farmer in the Dell yesterday. It is a little farm-to-table restaurant in the center of my town. I always get the kale salad, which has kale, roasted sweet corn, cornbread croutons, a fried egg, a lemon dressing, and a nice piece of homemade baguette.
My appetite has been slightly off and I'm really sure why. Maybe it's from all the miles I've been running? Since I wasn't quite hungry last night and knew I had to eat, I made what sounded the most appetizing. A classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich on nice soft wheat bread with a cup of my homemade chicken soup. It was tasty!
My Falmouth Road Race picture came in the mail! I look pretty miserable haha. Pain is temporary, pride lasts forever, right?
Darla was quite angry with me when I tried to clean her ears...
Ever runner has a list of pet peeves, admit it... Some things really bother me when I'm running, either on the track, on the roads, or in a race. Here they are:
1. When I'm running on the track and people come on after me and hop in the same lane so I have to switch lanes and weave in and out of people. C'mon, you see me in lane 5, pick another lane! (I'm always in lane 5).
2. When people run the wrong way on the track. You're supposed to run in one direction, not towards other people. This happened this morning and the 2 women running in the wrong direction ran a poor old man walking on the track right off the track.
3. When people spit or blow snot rockets in races and don't look to make sure no one is around. Yup, I've been hit by spit before. Not fun. Have some common courtesy and make sure no one is near you. I understand if you need to do that, but PLEASE look around first!
4. When I'm running down the street and someone on a bike is riding at you and doesn't move over. I recently played a game of chicken with a man (nonchalantly) riding his biking. He was going slowly and clearly saw me running at him, and at the last minute when he realized I wasn't moving, he turned his handles and fell off his bike. Serves him right I guess!
5. When you run right by another runner and they either avoid eye contact or just stare at you. I always say good morning or hello because it's the nice thing to do. If someone ignores me, it just kind of makes me mad.
6. When people yell out the windows of their cars (or creepy vans) at you, especially when it's something not so nice or perverted. I want to see you out here running in 80 degree weather with 100% humidity after running 16 miles the day before. Then yell obscenities at me and see how you feel....Psh.
7. Finally, when people sprint ahead in a race and then walk and use me as their pacer. I am running my a** off at a steady pace, and this person is walking until I catch up and then sprinting ahead, and then walking until I catch up. I'm sorry, but either find someone else to pace that doesn't care, or run at a pace you can handle!
I am not trying to be mean with any of these pet peeves, but these are just some things that irritate me when running. The more years you've been running, the more pet peeves you develop. You literally see everything when running in races, and a lot of things can really irk you!!

Questions to ponder:
Do you dread or look forward to track workouts? What do you eat when you're not that hungry? What is your #1 pet peeve in running? Do you have any farm-to-table restaurants near where you live?
Have a terrific Tuesday running friends!
